The Electoral Commission has addressed the request made by the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for serial numbers of the Biometric Voter Registration(BVR) Kits currently deployed in the field for the Limited Voters Registration exercise.
According to the Commission, the integrity and security of the electoral process are of great importance, thus, there is no action they will take that will put the integrity of the commission in disrepute.
The commission, in a response to the demands of the NDC stated that, “The commission wishes to highlight that the integrity and security of our electoral process are paramount. Each BVR kit, as a critical component of this process, is assigned a unique serial number. This number plays a crucial role in the operation of these devices, particularly in the generation of activation codes essential for their functionality as well as tracking their location and movement."
In a press release dated 9th May which was signed by the acting Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Michael Boadu, the request to release the serial numbers to any external party, including political entities, has the tendency of posing a substantial risk to the security and integrity of the registration processes.
"That is why this has never been done since biometric voting system was introduced in Ghana," it stated.
The Electoral Commission further stated that, the serial numbers when released could be used to facilitate fraudulent activities, including phishing attacks, where a criminal who has the serial number can trick EC personnel into believing they are registered officials, potentially leading to unauthorised disclosures and access to sensitive information.
“The Electoral Commission maintains a structured protocol for the activation and operation of BVR Kits, designed to ensure that all devices are used solely for their intended purpose and by authorized personnel only. Disclosing serial numbers disrupts this protocol and endangers the operational integrity of our electoral system,” the commission stated.

NDC is a dangerous party. What do you need the serial numbers for? They think they are smart but the request has exposed their wicked agenda. They know that serial numbers can be used to render such machines malfunctional or hacked into them. That is the reason why Asiedu Nketiah said they want to get the serial numbers by whatever means necessary. So EC must do everything within their power to prevent NDC to get the serial numbers. It must be noted that they can still get them using insiders. They want this year's election to result in chaos, but God will not allow this to happen.
Since the beginning of the 1992 constitution everyone thought Jj and The NDC where always rigging the elections but it is now very very clear everyone in Ghana 🇬🇭 that NPP rigs elections than any other party in Ghana….oooo NPP people of u can’t do more than jj and NDC PLEASE TRY TO EQUATE THEM ……SINCE KUFFOUR GOVERNMENT YOU GUYS HAVE FAILED AND DISAPPOINTED GHANAIANS…..it so petty that u guys are always doing worse than anyone in Ghana
Mother serpent controlled EC will be kicked out same way as Charlotte was in 2025.
The NDC has started preparing the minds of the FOOOOOOOL soldiers why they will LOOSE the 2024 elections miserably! They will NEVER suggest even 'one' policy why Ghanaians should vote for them. They only want power to amass wealth. Share positions so that they can CREATE, LOOT & SHARE!
Agoro ne fam. The NDC led by Mahama lost abysmally when the EC was chaired by Charlotte Osei. When the majority of the people of Ghana vote for a particular party, no one can including the EC change the results. Simple arithmetic- add all your results and present them at the Supreme Court when a party feels cheated. I wonder why the Ndc was able to get the parliamentary results before 12 midnight on the voting day right apart from the controversial results from Tachiman South and Sefton Wiawso but they went on to say that the parliamentary results may reflect on the presidential results. Were they interested in just the parliamentary results that was the reason why they didn’t bother to put together the presidential results. Massa, we don’t want any excuses in 2024 elections. Any party that wins has won. Simpleto.
The E.C. should ensure that they stand their ground!
