Joy Business has gathered from the Bank of Ghana that a new GH¢5 Ghana note with new security features and design would be in circulation from March this year.
The note is being introduced as part of the Central Bank’s 60th anniversary, which falls on March 4, this year.
The GH¢5 cedi denomination will be a legal tender as well as a collector's item.
The note will have additional security features, that are sensitive to touch to aid the blind and visually challenged in identifying the new notes.
The climax of the celebration will take place in August this year, which would mark 60 years since the Bank opened its doors to the public.

It was John Mahama and his NDC govt that planned this as a means to waste our hard earned cash.... It is good they are gone.... But I am sure the notes have been printed already....
Moti awu! (ghana bleeds, kyei, razak). Do you know how long it takes to arrange and print new currency notes? This arrangements were made before the new Government came to power, and the best place to direct your insults is the bank of Ghana or at best, the Mahama administration.
Not not not!!!! what @ all is wrong with these politicians? NDC did same with the GHC 2 note and now NPP's doing same with the GHC 5. ? Oman Ghana hmmm
Is this necessary at this period of economic hardship?
is this not paving way for the Officials and The New Government to steal money just like in July,2007? we are waiting
