Vodafone Ghana has announced that as a result of the power crisis, it will provide some bonus packages as relief, to users of its fixed broadband from April 2, 2015.
The company has said it would offer a one-week validity extension to all fixed broadband users. This offer will increase the validity time of the monthly bundle from 30 to 37 days.
Additionally, active fixed broadband customers would receive a monthly mobile broadband data bundle, free of charge as back-up to their fixed broadband connection.
The bonus packages would continue until the power situation is stabilized.
An official statement issued to the Ghana News Agency said the bonus packages would be to mitigate the effect of the current power crisis on Vodafone's fixed broadband customers and to demonstrate the company’s understanding of the times.
Vodafone said the current power crisis was creating operational challenges and though their equipment and platforms have robust back-up solutions, no network design could sustain uninterrupted availability amidst such pronounced power outages.
