On March 6, 2017 Ghana will be 60 years old, during which the nation would showcase to the world, through planned cultural activities and parades by school children and the security forces.

Throughout the year the 60 years on anniversary planning committee would get Ghanaians to know our strides in developmental agendas in all areas including tourism, education, housing and above all good democratic credentials. Many nations across the world consider Ghana as a shining example in many areas of endeavor especially our electioneering processes thereby attracting many people and foreign governments down to learn from us.

The beauty of it all is that we have three living former presidents who held power since 1993 under the 1992 constitution. Their knowledge, national appeal and experiences are enough for them to help Ghana remain united and peaceful. They are Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Kufuor, and President John Dramani Mahama. What is good about it all is that all these men are seen together at public functions in parliament and traditional and social gatherings together with their wives who were once first ladies and many of their followers.

Presidents Rawlings and John Kufuor were seen throughout the world on television at the 7th state of the nation address session by president Nana Akufo Addo in Ghana’s parliament. Wasn’t that beautiful and simple way for them to portray unity of all factions in Ghana? If they were seen immaculately dressed in parliament they would surely follow up to take part in all major programs during the coming events from march 6th.

The picture often painted at these functions shows no animosities among these noble men showing that Ghana is making strides in politics. This if continued would continue to pull their followers along towers complete harmony among political rivals throughout Ghana. With this picture painted it is there not in order for these former presidents who are our ‘kin pins’ to engage in ‘verbal conflicts’. Giving the good relationship between the two former larders’ I wonder why former President Rawlings would make a damaging statement about former president Kufuor to the extent of eliciting reprisals from President Kufuor.

I do not want to back either of them since they all belong to us. All I want to say is that given their pedigrees the entire people of Ghana would not be happy if they continue with their ‘verbal conflicts’. From me and all people out there I am calling for ceasefire. I do not want to recount the subject matters but only to say that enough is enough. The two men are our living legends who are in a position to continue giving guidance to the nation through its political and traditional leaders.
