My deepest appreciation goes to all and sundry who in diverse ways contributed to the creation of Bono East Region. We are proud winners!!!!!!.
Initially, I thought we will respectfully leave the selection of the Regional Capital to His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to decide. However, surprisingly, some people have started putting in some analysis here and there in order to win favour from the President for the siting of the capital.
In view of this, l also deem it fit as a politician and also a stakeholder in the ruling party to express my opinion on the issue.
There is a school of thought that, distance has a role to play in the selection; another school of thought says, centrality of the capital to the other towns is a point to consider.
As much as I agree to the points above, I also strongly agree that, any good politician or political researcher will not listen to any of such points because in politics all those points are WEAK ones.
A first year Free SHS Government student is aware that, in politics it is the numbers that count.
Now, let's look at what percentages the contentious towns contributed to the YES votes in the just-ended referendum.
This is limited to YES votes:
1.Techiman South and North - 140,719 =31.37%
2. Nkoranza South & North - 84,877=18.92%
3. Kintampo South & North – 77,724 = 17.73%
4. Pru East & West – 52,144 = 10.67%
5. Atebubu Amanten – 46,668 = 10.40%
6. Sene East & West - 40,594 = 9.05%
With the above analysis, I think any politician or government will consider where to site the Regional capital because in politics numbers are the KEY ingredient in any election.
Again, I think we all know the difference between 31% and 10% in any election.
I hope Hon. Dan Botwe, the General, will read this.
Hon Martin Korsah will do same, likewise many more NPP researchers and political scientists.

STRATEGICALLY LOCATED TO SERVE MULTIPURPOSE NEEDS FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE REGION. IT ALSO ENABLED THE GOVERNMENT TO BUILD SUNYANI TO BECOME THAT NICE CITY WE HAVE TODAY. AND SO WAS KOFORIDUA AND HO. NOT TOO LONG AGO SUNYANI WAS JUDGED THE CLEANEST CITY IN GHANA. A CAPITAL FOR ANY OF THE NEW REGIONS SHOULD NOT BE CITED IN ANY OF THE COMMERCIAL CENTERS WHICH HAVE BECOME SO DIRTY, POLLUTED AND MISSHAPED. WE NEED MODERN AND CLEAN CITIES. SO IT CANNOT BE TECHIMAN, KINTAMPO, NKORANZA NOR ATEBUBU. IF ABEASE HAS A GOOD LAND AROUND TO DEVELOP A NEW CITY SO BE IT. THOUGH THE NEW CAPITAL SHOULD NOT BE TOO FAR FROM TECHIMAN, NKORANZA, KINTANPO AND ATEBUTU IT SHOULD NEVER BE AT ANY OF THEM FOR THEY ARE ALREADY CHOKED AND AND MISSHAPED. GHANA MUST MOVE AWAY FROM KUMASI AND ACCRA TYPE OF CITIES TO ABUJA ONE. IN VIEW OF THAT THE NEW CAPITAL MUST BE CITED IN A PLACE WHERE MODERN CITY THAT, IN THE COURSE OF TIME, WOULD BECOME THE CAPITAL OF GHANA. ALL IN BONO EAST MUST DEPART FROM THEIR MYOPIC AND SHORT SIGHTED VIEWS AND THINK BIG BEYOND THEIR CAGES.NO CITY IN GHANA SHOULD BE TRIBALLY CLASSIFIED. IT IS TIME FOR US TO THINK NATIONAL AND UNIVERSAL RATHER THAN TRIBAL AND ETHNIC. WE HAVE BRONX, MANHATTAN, BROOKLYN AND OTHER BIG CITIES IN NEW YORK STATE WITH HUGE INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT. NONE OF THEM IS THE CAPITAL OF NEW YORK STATE BUT ALBANY. GOVERNANCE SHOULD NOT BE OVERSHADOWED BY COMMERCE AND NOISE. GOD BLESS GHANA AND OUR LEADERS TO THINK RIGHT. POP
Akuffo Addo NPP Gvt did well to exhibit neutrality in the referendum for new regions. I will expect them to do the same in selection the Regional Capitals for the New Region. The Gvt, though should facilitate, must allow the Traditional Leaders, Parliamentarians and Local Authorities in the New Regions come together to discuss the matter for an appropriated choice. Number as suggested is important, other consideration might not be ignored, as they might become compelling to some regions. We must think about what will benefit the entire region. It might even become necessary to create a new capitals from a village to become a new capital with modern conditions. Washington, the Capital of America was Smaller than New York and Many Places in America, yet it was made the Capital. It was carved from the states of Maryland Virginia and one or two other places to become District of Columbia. Albany the Capital of New York State is a comparatively small city in the state. It is however cited away from Commercial and very busy cities of the state like the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or any large busy places for convenience of government business. Ghana need to be modernized for development rather than inclined to tradition. Government must, as soon as possible, facilitate the discussion to select the new regional capitals but must be neutral.
