The office of Member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency, Hon Mubarak Muntaka had taken notice of the above mentioned publications on various online news portals and some radio stations of which yours was part.
For the avoidance of doubt and setting the record straight, the above caption of the publication and broadcast is not only superfluous but perfidious as well.
If we all will recall in 2015 when crime rate within Asokore Mampong reached its highest crescendo with the menace of a vigilante group affectionately called "Anraba Gari", the Assembly decided to purchase 2 pump Action gun for the official use of the Municipal Chief Executive and the member of Parliament for their protection.
In February this year, there was a high sophisticated robbery attack at the residence of the member of Parliament at Buobai where valuable items amounting to millions of Ghana Cedis were made away with and till date the police were not able to make any arrest.
This and many other cogent reasons are why it's very important for the protection of the safety of the member of Parliament.
It will also interest all to know that the former MCE Hon Nuru Hamidan had since handed over the pump action gun meant for the office of the Municipal Chief Executive to the newly appointed MCE, Hon Alidu Seidu and he's currently using it for his protection.
It is therefore instructive to note that Hon Mubarak Muntaka will also hand over the gun the very day he ceases to be the member of Parliament for Asawase Constituency. Thank you.
Signed
Farouk Muniru
Special Assistant to Hon Muntaka Mubarak.

So when is the Municipality and the MP going to use the common fund and other monies for the people to buy guns for them so that everybody can protect themselves? Public servants think and act as if the rest of the people are ***barred word*** S.
These are the very M P's who sit in the public accounts committee and ask accountants and heads of state institutions questions as if to say they the M P 's are angels, for all you know muntakas case is a tip of the iceberg,so if a head of depatment also feels unsafe he/she can equally use state funds to buy a gun and register it in his/her name, after all every life is precious,am looking forward to see a bold C E O of a state institution do same and we will see if muntaka can speak to the same issue at the public accounts committe, then we will hear if an M P life is more important than any other Ghanian worker, some civil servants with their low salaries have been able to buy their own guns for self protection,M P 's in Ghnan with free tea, housing/vehicle allowance, free fuel, sitting allowance, common fund which is most often used for 'space' projects e project that cannot be seen, with all these you want guns for freee, abaaaaaaa.i cant think far
Farouk, please come again, your explanation is infantile. The former D C E according to you has handed over his gun to the incoming D C E,God forbid, if robbers were to attack the former D C E today what will be his weapon of defence,so in Ghana D C E's and M P' s are too poor to the extent that they cant buy pump action guns to protect themselves, again is the former D C E now giong to do change of ownership to the new D C E since the gun was registered in his name?.Ghanaian politicians think the tax payer is a ***barred word***. A day will come. Icant think far.
The issue is why the guns were registered in their names and not in the name of the assembly. Really an empty rejoinder.
