Patients first- a group of graduate healthcare professionals, both employed and unemployed wishes to express our gratitude to President Nana Addo and the government for the introduction of Nation Builders Corps programme as a stop gap measure to reduce unemployment rate in our country.
This clearly shows dedication and commitment to address the high unemployment rate in the country.
Some of us have been unemployed since 2013, and we are still counting on our hopes to get financial clearance for our permanent employment. While waiting for this financial clearance, some of us are doing private jobs like "locum" at some hospitals and we take not more than GHC 700 monthly. Others too are doing voluntary attachment at some of the health facilities, without any monthly stipend, not to talk of SSNIT and Conditions Of Service.
We engage in such works not because we are satisfied with the amount or conditions, *but to bridge the gap of being idle and keeping our skills alive and update our clinical knowledge as we wait for our financial clearance to effect our permanent employment by Ministry Of Health*.
Indeed, some of us reacted negatively to NABCO due to misinformation. But after getting the accurate information and clarifications as indicated below, we fully endorse NABCO, especially the HEAL GHANA MODULE :
â–ŞNation Builders Corps (NABCO) is not a replacement for our permanent employment by the Ministry Of Health. This means NABCO will not delay or stop our financial clearance.
â–ŞNo healthworker, especially Nurses and Midwives will be on NABCO for 3 years as speculated. We will exit NABCO immediately our financial clearance is approved. This means we can be on NABCO for only some months.
â–ŞNABCO is not compulsory, but optional
â–ŞNABCO is for all interested unemployed health workers, and not only for Nurses and Midwives.
â–ŞNABCO will help us get a preferred geographical location to work since applicants will be placed in a preferred district. This will address the accommodation and transportation issues we mostly complain of.
With the above information /clarifications, we encourage our colleague health workers who are interested to apply and join us.
This is not different from the "locum" we do at some private hospitals.
This is not different from the voluntary health services we provide at some hospitals.
This is a temporal situation, as we wait for our permanent employment.
The GHC 700 is indeed not enough, but it is better than the amount some of us are paid monthly for our "locum" while waiting for financial clearance.
We all know that even the actual basic salary or Single Spine Salary for our senior colleague health workers who are employed by Ministry Of Health is not satisfactory, but as a country this is what we have so let us manage it and move our country forward.
We would love to use this opportunity to inform Ghanaians to be true citizens like Koreans who sold their jewelleries to ensure the development of their country.
"South Korea has exported the first shipment of 300 kilograms of gold collected in a public campaign to help the country out of its economic crisis. The nationwide campaign - led by large business groups including Daewoo, Samsung and Hyundai - began on January 5, 1998 and involved ordinary Koreans donating personal gold treasures, which have been melted down into ingots ready for sale on the international markets. Kate Liang looks at the phenomenon of public self-sacrifice to save an economy in trouble:
It's an extraordinary sight: South Koreans queuing for hours to donate their best-loved treasures in a gesture of support for their beleaguered economy.
Housewives gave up their wedding rings; athletes donated medals and trophies; many gave away gold "luck" keys, a traditional present on the opening of a new business or a 60th birthday" (BBC)
These Koreans are not different from we Ghanaians. We all have same blood, so our mentality geared towards development and economic growth should be same.
We are the government, we are the leaders, let us act as such.

It remains a fact that NABCO is not compulsory. Those not interested can wait till clearance come after all, some waited since 2013 until clearance came recently.
Nash, only f00*00ls like you who hate Ghana will see everything with ndc blind lens. People who hate everything Ghanaiabs, people who bring suffering and hardship to the people while they create l000*00t and share, people who hate and jealous everything under the sun, listen! Not everyone is idi**o**t like you people. These nurses are the type we need, they are those who have passion for their job and compassion for the needy, nurses who think of patient first are the real professionals not those ndc st**uu**pid nurses who think money first but couldn't demonstrate for their incompetent us**less party to give them jobs. They are luck, Akufo Addo is the President, he is a good man but If it were to be me they will smell real pepper for their f000**lis****hness of following ndc which couldn't help them. After all you are among those 44% who lost potooo so who cares about you? Ndc 22% for 2020 still stands and no amount of talking will help you. Nkwaseafuo ! Thank you the reasonable nurses, you are patriotic and may GOD BLESS YOU! PATIENT FIRST! Work hard to move your country forward. Forward ever, backwards never in the cause of building our country Ghana !
U R NOT QUALIFIED TO BE CALLED NURSES ,THE APPROPRIATE NAME FOR THE THREE OF U IS *CHEAP PARTY SLAVES* *NANA NURSES AHHHHH CHEAP LABOURS
I think these people completed nursing school If you really signed a bond with the government, All nurses From the private nursing knew there will not be employment for them after school that is why you are embracing the so called Heal Ghana God have mercy on you
I know u GIRLS would soon finish spending the CHICKEN change given to you and will start seeking for help out of that NABCO SLAVERY,U GIRLS R NOT QUALIFIED TO BE CALLED NURSES CUS UR KNOWLEDGE IS TOO SHALLOW TO SAVE LIFE,NMC HAS TO REMATK UR SCRIPTS N TAKE BACK THEIR LICENCE CUS U R A DISGRACE TO THE PROFESSION.AHHHHH HOW CAN U SELL UR FUTURE SOOOO CHEAP N LOW. NABCO NURSES FINISH HARD , HAHA HAHA HAHA SHAME UNTO U GIRLS,U THINK NO ONE WOULD KNOW ABOUT THE BRIBE U TOOK. TO MY FELLOW NURSE , PATIENCE THEY SAY ENDS IN VICTORY,LETS BE PATIENT & FIGHT TO SECURE OUR CHILDREN,FAMILY,SIBLINGS,PARENTS &OURSELFS AS A WHOLE... THIS POLITICIANS WANTS TO GIVE US OP POISON IN A GOLDEN CAP ...A WORD TO THE WISE IS ENOUGH
It's such a disgrace for ladies of intellect to cheap themselves in such a manner. You don't just ride on political sentiments without taking logics to a scale. I doubt if you are not impersonating being nurse's. Nurses without sense of humour for the integrity and dignity if their profession? If you are indeed nurse, I won't hesitate to assume you have been compromised. A nurse will desire her legitimate work than playing cheap tricks for survival.
Am very ashamed of this three ladies who called themselves nurses.did they think of 3year after the contract, they should have known that employing nurses under nabco is going filled the facilities and there would be no need for recruiting nurses. And after three year we all go home.wise up
There is something fishy about this article, it's either someone was paid to say these things or they are just made up statements...if really you have stayed home for five year, will you jump up to a 3years temporal program and still be hoping for a financial clearance??...hmmmmmm
It is a shame that some nurses have made themselves cheap labours to work for them,if they said they will give clearance whiles under Nabco, what prevents them from employing permanently, think twice.Don't be ***barred word*** by cheap policies.
The NPP government told us that that have badgered for 27000 nurses this year but on the NABCO heal Ghana they gave only 10000 slot. And notwithstanding we have stayed home for 3 good years. Only for this government to employ us telling us to be enrolled on a three 3 years contract. Some of us from the private institutions were very important to the NPP government when we were the pulling against for them. 2020 is not far. As we have stayed home for 3 years so as we can wait.
