The John Mahama 2020 Campaign Team has become aware of a deliberate campaign of disinformation led by President Nana Akufo-Addo following comments by former President John Dramani Mahama that he will convene a stakeholders forum to address the challenges facing the implementation of the Free Senior High School programme.
Addressing delegates in the Cape Coast North constituency in the Central Region last week, Mr Mahama pointed to his government’s record of investment in the education sector, particularly secondary education. His government, he said, committed itself to widening access to secondary education, improving quality and making education affordable.
On Free Senior High School, Mr Mahama observed that in its present form, there are many challenges with its implementation, yet “the government is not heeding to calls for a stakeholders review conference”.
He said further “I believe that if Ghanaians come together, we can come out with a workable time table and schedule for implementing Free SHS”. Mr Mahama then proceeded to announce that he would convene a stakeholders’ forum to review the policy when he is elected into office in the 2020 elections.
It is important to point out that at no point during former President Mahama’s address to the delegates did he mention that he would collapse the Free SHS programme.
That President Akufo-Addo could only come to that conclusion is regrettable, to say the least. It is important to point out that “collapse” is not a synonym for “review” and it is therefore mind-boggling that President Akufo-Addo could come to that conclusion. In any case, the call for review by former Mahama is consistent with the recent pronouncement made publicly by Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is on record as saying in a radio and television interview in Accra, that “there must be changes in the way the policy is being administered in the future”.
It is the considered view of former Mr Mahama that the challenges facing the implementation of Free SHS can be addressed, and he is committed to fixing that problem when elected in 2020. Mr Mahama is deeply committed to the pursuit of high quality secondary education and he will spare no effort in making Ghanaian students as competitive as students from elsewhere on the continent and beyond when he wins the 2020 elections.

Let's be honest, review can also mean stopping the Programme depending on the outcome the evaluation. So knowing who is talking we can understand the political undertones. He has ever shown his revulsion for Free SHS for southerners'
We know your history... You and your corrupt NDC party collapsed the NHIS you inherited..... You guys even talk of one time premium.
Deen you call your mahama handsome at 60 years?look at his jaws, fallen apart mo wonder you are in the ndc. In any case do you have toilet in your area or waiting fir the government to build you one? unfortunately your handsome mahama inside is so ***barred word*** that there is nothing to compare to it, his hometown of Bole Bamboi the people drink with cattle from the same stream and you call this thing handsome? in my area he would have been a one term mp let alone to become a deputy minister and a vice president to even get the chance to kill the substantive president! in your world such incompetent idi*ots are heroes. Ndc will rot in opposition, mark my words and let ndc make any st*pid move to vote this disgusting Gonja mafia who ran Ghana like a casino to be their flagbearer and they will regret! we voted out John mahama for a purpose and nothing has changed about him and the bad or worst of the NPP is the best of the ndc so the discerning Ghanaians will choose the NPP over the ndc at any given time. In fact the arrogance and impunity of the ndc in opposition so boring and disgusting that they will find it hard for Ghanaians to consider them. Ghanaians have past politucs of insults and lies, propaganda is now a thing of the past but with ndc in it,they will always be behind. Ghanaians prefer the NPP even in their hardship to ndc ghost paradise. 2020, 3b3 y3 d3 papa! the same people who are here commenting against the ndc are the genuine people who will vote against the ndc. If ndc want to know their strength they should watch the comments on social media! John mahama should know the unemployed graduates association which was formed during ndc era who are now employed are the very people who come here to comment against him, he should know the NABCO employees ndc advised them not to accept but about 90,000 are working now remaining 10,000 still being processed are those who come here to comment against the ndc with annoyance so the ndc must test their strength first before they allow John mahama to spew his us*less venom which is making ndc unattractive and courting more disaffection for him and his bid to lead the ndc. It will be better for the ndc to accept their humiliating defeat with all the seriousness than to make it look like the defeat was just 40,000 or 100,000 so will be easier to catch up so messing up with insults and propaganda annoying more the electorates. Let me remind the ndc that,it is not easy to even wipe out 500,000 of the huge dificit they owe ! they have a lot of work to do than playing st*pidly politics with everything. Ndc will rot in opposition!
Something that is undergoing a process. We've not yet concluded on its implementation and a 'review' is already being suggested. What's the intention? A review means appraisal, assessment, audit, examination, probe, etc. You do all this with a view to charting a better course for education. It may or may not lead to its collapse.
Incompetencyyyy will never depart the NDC. It is in their DNA and glucose and eaten into their hearts and souls. Only Jesus can save them. The lat time the NDC reviewed basic education, they ended up collapsing it - the capitation grants were not paid had a lot of arrears running into billions. The last time Mahama reviewed NHIS, he ended up collapsing it - the facility owed billions and could not render any service. The last time I checked, Mahama, promised a time premium NHIS but failed miserably to deliver. The last time I checked, Mahama promised to build 200 day SHS blocks per year but only built 36 in 4 years with the World Bank building 23. The last time I checked Mahama reviewed teacher and nursing training allowances with the promise of using the accrued funds from the allowances to build more training colleges, but could not even build one - funds accrued could not be traced or accounted for. The last time I checked Mahama and the NDC reviewed Kufuor's innovative idea of developing the 3 northern regions, Mahama only managed to set up GYEEDA to syphon all funds accrued and moved the person in charge to Canada as the Ghana high commissioner. The last time I checked, Mahama and the NDC reviewed Kufuor's transport ideas, and only succeeded in collapsing metro mass, STC and our railway system. They could not even add one track to the existing railway tracks. The last time I checked, Mahama reviewed our agric policy, only to collapse our agriculture. He could only grow agriculture at negative zero percent and dropped in our cocoa production from 2nd in the world to 3rd. The last time I checked, Mahama reveiwed our economic policy and only succeeded in reducing our financial rating from B+ to B-. He also succeeded in increasing our debt percentage from 23% to 74% and put us in the highly distressed nations category. It has taken the NPP and NANA Addo to bring us back to the glory days at 56% debt percentage and out of the distress zone. So, someone should tell me - what at all can Mahama and the NDC do to make Ghana a happy place??? It baffles my mind when Mahama says he wants to come back - for what??? To bring back dumso?, take us back to the ddistress era, syphon all funds using GYEEDA, collapse our NHIS and our SHS programme, stop teachers and nursing allowances and bring our country to a halt. Ghanaians should wise up and stop being stupidddd!!!
i now understand why people refer to npp and its supporters as super illiterates. How can review means collapse? for those of you npp guys and nana addo who do not understand the meaning of review, this definition of review is for you; Review is a formal assessment of something with the aim of introducing change if necessary.
You said you will review it. Somebody says your review will lead to its collapse (after all a review can lead to success or failure). Then you turn round and say the person says you will collapse it! What kind of argument is this? Total lack of critical thinking skills, no wonder your government was so incompetent.
We have made politics like a ***barred word*** insulting game and just saying a review has turned the attacking to say it is a collapse. Where from such thinking and politics is ideas and the best wins.
WE WILL ALWAYS INSULT YOU. AS A GHANAIAN I HAVE THE RIGHT TO INSULT YOU IF YOU SPEAK AGAINST SHS. BECAUSE YOU ARE CAPITAL FOOOOOOOOOL YOU MAHAMA, ***barred word*** AND CRIMINAL, YOU DO NOT WANT OUR KIDS TO ENJOY THE SHS. YOU, YOU MAHAMA TELL ME DID YOUR FATHER EVER PAY YOU SCHOOL FEES? THE ANSWER IS NO. LOOK YOU ARE A DON-KEY. THINKLLESS PERSON LIKE YOU. I AM FIGHTING FOR MY RIGHT TO ENJOY FREE SHS. THEREFORE I AM GOING TO INSULT YOU ANYTIME YOU IDI OT SPEAKS ABOUT PRESENT FREE SHS
You were president for almost 6 years, and all you could do was rhetoric under the guise of progressively free SHS. Didnt you say that Ghana is not ready for free SHS? So what are you going to review? It is only in Ghana that John Mahama can have the moral courage to stand for president again? Six wasted years of our nation's time. All our leaders from Nkrumah to JJ, Kufour, Mills & Akufo Addo had some kind of compelling vision whether or not one agrees with them. What is Mahama's vision for Ghana? Look at Trump- yes you may not agree with him but no one can deny that he loves the US and will always fight for his country's best interest. I think Akufo Addo's government is too big and he didn't deal with past corruption like the way we were all expecting but between the Akufo Addo and Mahama, Akufo Addo is a better leader!
