Sixteen basic schools in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Thursday were each given 24 laptops from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly(STMA)
Some beneficiary schools included the Sekondi Anglican Basic School,Gyendu Methodist JHS,Esawa MA JHS, Saint Stephens JHS and Kweikuma MA JHS.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Sekondi, the Mayor of the STMA), Captain (Rtd) Anthony Cudjoe, said the free distribution of the computers formed part of government's agenda of improving Information Communication Technology (ICT) training among basic schools across the country.
He said the donation was due to the fact that ICT knowledge is a pre-requisite for modern education and to help accelerate national development.
The Major entreated the beneficiary schools to put the equipment to good use to enhance academic work.
