“It’s so annoying; we are even tired of this people, ah! What they are doing is needless, and they know," Policy think tank, IMANI Africa boss vented his frustration and described as needless government’s decision to introduce double tracking system in Senior High Schools to accommodate the surge in students’ population.
Franklin Cudjoe also described as “cantata” some policies by the Nana Addo-led administration in Ghana’s education system.
“They will just wake up one day and go and talk to some professor and the professor will start talking on radio that we want to do multi-track. The following day, the ministry will then say ‘I think we have to do multi-track’. Look, policy work is not like cantata. They are jokers,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
A total of 362,118 first-year students from public Senior High Schools across the country are currently benefiting from the government’s fee-free education policy since its inception - 117,692 are day students with 244,426 being boarders.
Based on last year’s enrollment, the government has projected enrollment figures for 2018 to stand at 472,730 against available seats of 290, 737 leaving a gap of 181, 993 to be created in order to accommodate the expected number of enrollment.
The double tracking system, according to the Ministry of Education will offer students more instructional and contact hours with teachers.
But, Franklin Cudjoe is totally against the policy – according to him, “It doesn’t make sense”.
He continued, “Why don’t you if you really insist on doing this . . . use a voucher system so that you give vouchers to parents up to a certain amount to choose which schools they [parents] want [their kids] to go to."
“Education is not like vaccination you give, you have to prepare the environment. So what? People go in and then some people sit at home and then what happens? Is it a shift system? At IMANI we are just fed up,” he added.
Franklin Cudjoe also threatened a demonstation against government if the policy is not reviewed.

Why do some journalists go to Franklin Cudjoe for his opinion on important issues? What sensible ideas has he got? For issues of importance, please don't go to such a ***barred word***. He has nothing to offer. Are there no more wise and intelligent elites in the country than to go to a ***barred word*** like Franklin Cudjoe with his thick 'PIG LIPS' for his opinion? What does he know? He behaves like the NDC cohorts - 'THE CRY BABIES'.They are ***barred word***, always crying over everything. ***barred word*** IN THE COUNTRY who don't want the country to progress. May God strike them.
Nana Addo is a Failure!!!
This "rush out of hot water" decision characterized with weak thinking all in the name of fulfilling a policy that's supposed to be shaping our future has been dashed to these jokers. The professor from ashesi university who blindly accepted this kind of decision should be sacked, he should for go his job!!!! Decisions are no longer taken with the future in mind, rather to appeal to party folks. Those countries you're claiming are doing same are actually laughing at us, if you want to succeed by copying, don't jump steps!!! We'll all be happy to have free SHS in the country but not in this manner. Disgracefulll short old man
this guy thinks that he is embodiment of all the knowledge in the world........he better shut his mouth and give us a break who do u think u a??????
When The Media give attention to certain individuals and are given privilege to talk on issues, some of them talk even if they have no ideas on the subject of discussion and cannot contribute any sensible idea to the subject. Franklin Cudjoe has shot of ideas and has displayed highest level ignoramus in his statement. He has lost it this time. He should not rush else he will loose the respect people have for him
Neocolonialism I would say it's our problem. We need a true leader who would scap the SHS Curricula and convert all SHS to Vocational & technical education and maintain a high practical schooling environment. Also all teacher training centres in the country to must be converted to college of sciences and medical school. The universities and polytecnics must remain the highesr practical knowledge of all disciplines. Ghanaian Leaders must reason and think of the future. We must break the mindset of slavery and fear. China is great today because of the changes in their education pattern. All developed countries you see around the world follow suit. As I said it'll take a strong true leader and the willingness of the people to substitute such change else the white man Will surely interfere
Hmmmm! So now we must consult Imani before we even breathe.
I WANT TO SUGGEST THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PARTNER WITH SOME SELECTED REMEDIAL SCHOOLS LIKE IDEAL COLLEGE, ELITE COLLEGE AND OTHERS WHO HAS FACILITIES TO SUPPORT THESE STUDENTS. I DO NOT SUPPORT NEW SYSTEM ALSO, SOME SELECTED GOVERNMENT BASIC SCHOOLS WITH ENOUGH FACILITIES CAN BE USED TO SUPPORT. CONTACT ME FOR MORE IDEAS. CHEERS [email protected]
If you run a think tank and want to be taken seriously, you must not behave like an illiterate troll. The name Think Tank suggests that you must think (at the very least). You dont owe Ghana and you are not the wisest person in the country. I am sure they are many people who are more educated and better qualified than you Mr. Cudjoe. And you can not be an expert in economics, telecom, education, health, finance and law. What other more civilized think tanks do is that they hire policy fellows who are subject matter experts so that they can speak to specific policy issues. I don't agree with the multi-stream program and will be happy to see what other experts say but please stop throwing tantrums online. You have built a good brand that can be a major credible policy institution in the whole of Africa. Please don't destroy it with your s.t.upidity.
Why does Franklin Cudjoe think his opinion should always be taken. It's becoming so irritating listening to him. Are you an expert in every field? Ma yengwen yeho. Fa wo "too know" no s)) h). The NPP communicators are too gentle. Soooo pissed
