The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has cautioned its members not to consider suicide when confronted with challenges in their lives.
NUGS in a statement condoling the families of two tertiary students who died over the weekend (one from an alleged suicide) - said, "regardless of the endeavour or issue you are confronted with, SUICIDE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION".
"The National Union of Ghana Students received the news of the unfortunate demise of Ghanaian students, Emmanuel Akandor and De-Graft Acheampong of the University of Development, Wa (UDS) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) respectively with great shock and sorrow," the statement said.
"Akandor died through an alleged suicide yesterday whiles De-Graft through an unfortunate fire outbreak that happened in KO Methodist bookshop area, Kumasi yesterday, 27/01/19 around 10.30am.
"The leadership of the Union adviced that, regardless of the endeavour or issue you are confronted with, SUICIDE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION. There are more opportunities to hold on to in times of struggles".
