Mr Daniel Boateng Ansong, Deputy Administrator of the GETFund, has called on District Assemblies to strengthen local governance by creating more room for active community participation in development.
"It is important they ensure that all stakeholders are sufficiently involved in the development and management of social services, especially quality education," he said.
Mr Ansong was addressing the Third Speech and Prize-Giving Day of the Nsutaman Catholic Senior High School in the Sekyere Central District.
It has the theme; "Community Participation and Quality Education".
Mr Ansong said the GETFund had provided infrastructure for the school and additional money had been approved by the Board of Trustees of the Fund towards the completion of a two-storey girls' dormitory and teachers' accommodation.
"It would be a good undertaking, if both the community and the school management including the student leadership would find innovative means of working with the contractors and their consultants to ensure that we get value for money in these projects when they are completed."
He asked the school's management to make sure that the structures were kept in good shape at all times.
Mr Ansong drew attention to the need for the community to encourage the youth to avail themselves of the opportunities the school, which is in their immediate neighbourhood, presented to them.
"We cannot achieve quality education by divorcing the quality of inputs including the teachers' knowledge on the subject matter, their adeptness at delivery and their general composure including how they excite their students and make learning relevant," he added.
Mr Raphael Osei Adu, the Headmaster, said the school, established in 1973, now has a student population of 1,500 made up of 800 boys and 700 girls.
He said the academic performance has been excellent scoring 100 per cent pass for the last four years running in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, (WASSCE).
Mr Adu praised the community for building a three unit classroom block for the school to help meet the increasing enrolment.
