Mr. William Ampem Darko, Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), on Thursday urged management of Volta Star Radio (VSR) to develop quality programmes that would reflect public interest.
"We are no longer in monopoly and quality programmes should be developed to educate, entertain and inform the public."
Mr Darko was speaking at the 13th Anniversary celebration of the VSR in Ho which was on the theme: "Volta Star Radio, challenges and solutions".
He said a new transmitter has been installed at Amedzofe to address some of the technical problems facing the GBC.
Mr Darko said massive improvements would be made in TV and VSR reception before its 14 anniversary and said 3000 Ghana Cedis would be released for the completion of the Front Desk at VSR.
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Joseph Amenorwode observed that the performance of the Amedzofe transmitter station has not been the best which was affecting GBC's transmission and output in the region.
The Volta Regional Director of GBC and VSR, Mr Raphael Avornyo appealed to the people to join hands to build VSR.
