The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has cautioned the public to be extra careful so as not to fall victim to the schemes of criminals during the Christmas festivities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Patrick Timbillah said people should be security conscious as the police carried out their duties to ensure public safety.
Speaking to journalists in Kumasi on measures taken to reduce crime during the Christmas, he pointed out that security is a shared responsibility.
DCOP Timbillah spoke of plans to intensify day and night police patrol, maintain visible police presence, especially in the business areas of Kumasi and the highways.
These are all part of the nationwide operation dubbed: "Father Christmas."
The police, he said, would make sure there was also free vehicular movement and reduction of road accidents, adding that, personnel of the Motor Traffic Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service would not permit breaches of road traffic regulations.
Mr Timbillah gave the assurance that the police and other security agencies are on the alert and asked law abiding citizens to go about their duties without fear.
