Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service in charge of Finance and Administration, Matilda Baffour-Awuah, has been appointed to act as Director General of the Service.
This was at the instance of a recommendation by the Ghana Prisons Council following the voluntary retirement of Dr Michael Kofi Bansah, who was confirmed as Director General in January, 2012 by the late president Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
Ms Baffour Awuah trained at the Military Academy and Training School, Teshie, in June 1982 with four of her male colleagues for a six-month Military Training and Leadership Programme after which, she was appointed to the new post of Public Relations Officer in the Ghana Prisons.
She holds a Master�s Degree in Public Administration, a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana.
