The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), has held its annual festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in Accra on the theme: For Unto Us A Saviour Is Born, ahead of Christmas.
Major Albert Don Chebe (Rtd), Director-General of GBC, notable personalities and ministers of the gospel across Christendom, took turns to read portions of the Bible.
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas.
The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus, are told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choral music.
Dr Roland Affail Monney, Director of Radio at GBC, urged Ghanaians to reflect upon the teachings of Jesus which dwelt on love to show affection to each other and live together in peace.
The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was introduced to bring a more imaginative approach to the worship.
