The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority says Ghanaians are being "hypocritical" in their reaction to the recent fuel price hikes.
In an interview on Joy FM, Mr Asaga described the complaints as “exaggerated”, noting that, “Ghanaians don’t want to pay realistic prices for petroleum products” although they are able to afford luxury cars.
When his attention was drawn to the number of people who are able to afford the luxury cars, Mr Asaga had this to say, “the majority of the people in Ghana are living now in the cities and if you do the analysis, the number of private cars constitute about 60 to 70 per cent of the total number of cars on our streets…and the kind of cars we use in Ghana, you can’t believe this is Ghana.”
