Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas on Friday was at the court to appear before the committee investigating the bribery scandal that hit the judiciary but the committee had suspended sitting.
He spent only ten (10) minutes at the court. The committee investigating allegations of corruption against 22 judges resumed sitting today after it cancelled it’s first meeting on Tuesday.
This was due to the absence of a member of the committee. Lawyers for some of the magistrates are however pushing for an indefinite suspension of their meetings until a lawsuit filed in court is determined. Some of the magistrates have filed a writ at the High Court questioning the legality of the process.
The Chief Justice set up the committee to investigate allegations of corruption against the magistrates following the exposé by investigative journalist Anas Aremyaw Anas.
