President Akufo-Addo has appointed a criminologist, Prof. Ken Agyeman Attafuah as the acting Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The appointment is among the few undertaken by the president this week to change the leadership of most government institutions following his assumption of office.
Professor Ken Attafuah, a former deputy chair of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and currently the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Central University.
His appointment comes at a time when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has reinforced its commitment to carryout out a national identification project having held a broad consultative meeting on the project earlier this week, chaired by Vice President, Dr Mahamamudu Bawumia.
The NPP in the run up to this year’s elections stated that it would embark on a National Identification project to register all Ghanaians to get accurate data on citizens.
The commitment has received a lot of endorsement by citizens and was recently lauded by the founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom believes the government must be supported to successfully complete it.
Professor Atta Ken Agyeman Attafuah will become the substantive head of the NIA after a newly constituted NIA governing council approves his appointment in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Salamatu, who is the right person?saying wrong person for the job without suggesting the right person is meaningless like ndc has always been doing. Hahahahaha! Why are ndc so scared of Ghana getting the correct data for her citizens? Look ndc is coming no more so join PPP another party of true reflection of Ghana. No more ndc party of foreigners who are wicked ,heartless and ins*nsitive to Ghanaians eg: Collins Dauda's brother Naaba from Niger maimed and killed true Ghanaians and bolted away after ndc lost, this guy made himself tough and put fear in our people around Kukuom area. I tell you it will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the ndc to come back to power, what Ghanaians went through in the hands of the ndc,the insult, arrogance, disrespectful attitude, impunity, the hate and eviness displayed by the ndc hahahahaha! Ghanaians haven't forgotten ooo !they don't have short memory as the ndc thinks and you can't take them for granted any more.Salamatu, tell your brothers Suhuyini,Mahama Ayariga and co to hold their peace for the damage done the ndc even the founder knows it's difficult to repair, showing off and playing the tough guy part is not going to help them for Ghanaians have got enough from the ndc. They should rather find a way to release the truth since keeping the truth hostage will do them more harm than good.We are moving forward no turning back. God Bless Ghana,God bless NPP.
Prof. gear your loins for a 'tough' job. There detractors from within and without. You need all the experience, skill, discernment 'special' grace to succeed. I PRAY that GOD BE GRACIOUS TO YOU. You dare not be complacent nor fail.
Wrong person for the job.
