The Cape Coast District Court has today Monday discontinued the case against the first batch of persons who were arrested for the alleged complicity in the murder of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The move now is to let the Police transfer the seven accused persons, including the assembly man who was said to have masterminded the killing of the military officer at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region to Accra for prosecution.
All the seven, who are residents of Denkyira-Obuasi, were arraigned on a provisional charge of murder on June 1 at the Cape Coast District Court which remanded them into police custody to allow for further investigations into the case.
Major Mahama’s ‘killers’ charged with murder, remanded when the case came up in Court Monday morning.
The Police prosecutors stated that, the Police Central Intelligence Department Headquarters in Accra would take over the case, hence prayed the court to discharge the accused persons.
George Bernard Shaw, who is the Counsel for the accused persons did not oppose the request by the prosecution but however told the court the assemblyman, William Baah, has a head injury and also prayed the court to order the prosecution to seek for medical attention.
He did not say how Baah had the head injury or the nature of the injury, but the court in view of the prosecution’s request, discharged the seven persons and struck out the case.
Her ladyship also ordered the assemblyman and one other who also had a leg injury as well as all others who may require healthcare to be given medical care.
Meanwhile the Police is making efforts to consolidate the case for prosecution.

I think the authorities who are handling this case are trying to tell us something.I wish such a death happens to some of their relatives and let see how they will feel and such a case. I think something fishy is going on that,s why the killers has still not been jailed. Two past killers were released 3 months ago for the murder of an MP in Shiashi- Accra so i wont be surprise if the killers of the Late Soldier are also released. But if that happens some of us will advice ourselves in 2020.
medical what???????????????? hmmm just observing
In about 25 years to come, the NDC government which will be in power for one term will build the largest Prison in Ghana at Denkyira Obuasi at the very site where Major Mahama was lynched. And the prison will be named by Major Maxwell Adam Mahama. Prophecy.
I smell nolle prosequi
Let me send this clear info to the authorities......... Anything short of justice in this case will worsen the mob-injustice we are all fighting against. The genesis of these mob-injustice is as a result of the non performance of our laws!!!
It is better to be a man dissatisfied than a pig satisfied and it is better to be to be Plato dissatisfied than a ***barred word*** satisfied. How ***barred word*** it is for ***barred word*** civilians to assassinate the strength of the state in the person of late Honorable Major Mahama. When it comes to war,can they stand? The wages of sin is death and let them face it. The evil that men do live after them. The police must act professionally with the charged preffered against these criminals by consulting experts or experienced state attorneys who double as lawyers.
Long and short of the story is that the case is being transferred to Accra.
We will not accept any nolle prosequi this time around! Justice must be served and served hot! These police people have started demonstrating their incompetence! We are watching and waiting with clear eyes!
No mercy 4 them. Did they show concern to Major when they were lynching him
This Assemble man will smell real pepper. Your world has come to an end. Straight.
