Two trucks, loaded with 150 drums of un-customed chemicals, suspected to be ethanol used in the production of alcoholic drinks have been intercepted by the Tamale Sector Command of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The trucks intercepted on Friday by a customs patrol team on the Nanton-Tamale road in the Northern region.

The Tamale Sector Commander of Customs, Dr Godfred Okoh-Appiah at a media briefing said a sample of the chemical has been sent to the Customs Laboratory in Accra for testing to ascertain its veracity or otherwise as well as its wholesomeness.

Dr Okoh-Appiah said the results of the test would determine the next action to be taken and that when it was proven to be ethanol, the state could rake in total estimated revenue of about Gh₵139,000.
