The strike action by the various Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Operators has left the Ghana Oil Company [Goil] filling stations as the only company in operation.

Manager for the Dansoman Goil Filling Station, Mr. Owusu Kwarteng who spoke to Citi News addressed the situation as very worrying , yet they are coping since they cannot embark on an at once employment.

“It has not been easy, yet we cannot employ new workers because of this strike action to come and support us, because any employer for the field needs to go through proper training. Definitely it is a stress on us but we are managing,” he said.

He added that there could be no way their sector will cope with the pressure should the strike continue.

“If the strike action should continue, I don’t think we can cope,” he added.

The Ghana LPG Operators has begun a nationwide strike yesterday, Monday to impede on governments implementation of the cylinder recirculation policy.

According to the LPG Operators, implementation of the recirculation policy will get them out of business, which will make about seven thousand people to lose their jobs.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli in an interview said, they will continue to work together with them [stakeholders] to ensure a successful implementation of the programme.

“When you go on some of these strikes, even if it is one person it will mean that some locality are not going to have access to LPG’s. We have called them back, yesterday I shared a platform with the president of the LPG operators association Torgbi Adaku V and I invited him back to the implementation committee. We have a meeting with them today to deliberate on the matter,” he said.
