A 30-year-old pregnant woman died with her unborn baby at the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi on Wednesday, 4 July 2018 after the health post refused her entry into the labour ward because her husband could not immediately pay a GHC500 'Doctor Motivation Fee'.
Angela Afriyie Agyemang later died at the theatre just as her husband had made available the GHC500 fee for which she had been denied medical attention.
Pastor Solomon Lamo Latiff of the House of Faith Ministry in Kumasi, husband to the deceased, said he had taken his wife to the hospital the previous day when she started experiencing labour pangs after her due date exceeded by a week.
He told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM's Executive Breakfast Show that one Dr Sarpong then informed him that a Caesarean Section (CS) was to be done but not until he had paid the GHC500 doctor motivation fee.
Pastor Agyemang said he intends suing the hospital for medical negligence, since, according to him, the hospital allowed several other women in labour into the theatre while his wife was kept sitting in a wheelchair for over three hours due to his inability to immediately pay the GHS500 'Doctor Motivation Fee'.

@Nkwantabisa, well I doubt if you really know what you are talking of. The man could have billions in the accounts but may not have the amount requested at that material moment. What stops the hospital from allowing the delivery and later take the money? My brother OR whoever you are, wait until you go into such situation. The man may have received a call from the house of the situation of the wife. Probably he only had 200gh on him meant for the day. Will you like your brother in-law to inform you he left your sister to go join a cue at a bank to withdraw before to pick your sister if she was in labour ?
if we start suing Doctors and nurses for their negligence these unnecessary deaths will stop.
Waiting for the Miracles for a Normal Delivery as against the Antenatal-care (ANC) and laboratory results. Why reporting to hospital "after her due date exceeded by a week" according to the report. RIP
Dear citizen of Ghana, in fact, this is painful.i always have this in mind that, when can we Ghanaian for at lest once,be ***barred word*** to agreed on 'one thing' implement something beneficial to all of us and not politicizing it,pls.let grow we talk a lot. next time it will be you.let not encourage evils in our country-Ghana
my soul rest in peace
A Pastor name Solomon Lamo Latiff. Do not have GHS500 to pay so the Pregnant Wife and unborn Child Died. May the innocent Woman rest in peace. But today modern Day Pastors and their way of doing things is questionable. A whole Pastor do not have 500GH ?. But you will have Money to sue a Hospital ?. Is this LAMO LATIFF a Nigerian ?. He was so poor yesterday, to the extent that, he could not pay for 500GH to save his Wife. Let us see if he will be Rich today and tomorrow to perform Miracle and Wonders, and to Buy luxurious Cars together with Mansions. I am saying this, due to a What's App Video I saw of a Confession of Nigerian Pastor, who used his Pregnant Wife and unborn Child for RITUALS.
