The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta has charged the six contractors working on the six footbridges on the Madina-Adentan Highway to work day and night in order to meet the given deadline.
Over 190 people were knocked down on the stretch in 2018 due to the lack of footbridges which led to protest by residents.
However, government assured residents in the area of efforts to complete the footbridges by 2019.
In an interview with Adom News, the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Anthony Abayifa Karbo said government is committed to completing the project on time.
“The president has this project at heart and that is why he gave the contract to six different contractors to enable them clock the required deadline.”
The Deputy Minister who toured the area to inspect the progress of work on the highway also appealed to the residents of Adenta to exercise patience.
