President Akufo-Addo has arrived in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale ahead of tomorrow’s historic outdooring of the new Ya Naa, Abubakari Mahama ll, as the overload of the Dagbon traditional area.
This follows the successful completion of the traditional processes after his selection on Friday January 18, 2019 by the kingmakers.
A protracted chieftaincy dispute has left the skin vacant since 2002.
Yo-Naa Abubakari Mahama ll then the Savelugu Naa was among four persons whose names came up as possible successors of the late Ya-Naa whose funerals have all be performed.
His nomination is in line with the customs and traditions in respect of succession to the Kingship of Dagbon.
President Akufo-Addo was met on arrival by the Northern regional minister Salifu Saeed, the defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, the Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and regional executives as well as citizens of the Dagbon traditional area.
A ceremony to outdoor the new Ya Naa is expected to attract traditional rulers, religious groups, civil society organizations, representatives of political and social groups and thousands of Dagbon residents.
President Akufo-Addo is reported to be delighted that his efforts at resolving the conflict have been fruitful.
Scores of Dagbon citizens lined the streets of Tamale to show appreciation to the President for his leadership in resolving the dispute.

It is funny and unfortunate how people lose their heads, shamelessly, doing dirty politics. Was Akuffo Addo president before JDM? Did Akuffo Addo ever manage the state apparatus until now? How could anybody in his or her right sense make any argument that Akuffo Addo could not provide his people of Kyebi with water and it took JDM from the north to come and do that, granted that Kyebi indeed did not have water until JDM? In what capacity could Akuffo Addo have provided Kyebi water and in what capacity did JDM provided Kyebi water - as MP or minister? Infantile politics.
Aunty Baby do you know that for a fact or you have also fallen for NDC Propaganda? Maybe you live in Kyebi?
Droooche your comment is unwarranted.Nana Addo a native of Kyebi couldn't give them WATER. It was John Mahama who came to provide them with water. That is how LIFE is so stop the POLITICIZATION AND THE UNNECESSARY INSULTS. Nana Addo is doing worse things than John Mahama.
John Mahama a northerner could not help his own people solve their problems. He just loaded his pocket and that of him family members with our money and he wants to come back.
