President Akufo-Addo has asked Ghanaians to learn lessons from the Menzgold saga.
According to him, the Menzgold debacle, "Is a tragic phenomenom that appears to have occured in plain sight, and affected a lot of people, in spite of warnings from official institutions . . . I admonished all Ghanaians to learn the necessary lessons for the future . . . "
He made this known while addressing Parliament on Thursday, during the third State of the Nation's Address (SONA).
Background
Customers of the embattled gold collectible firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited have their funds locked up with the company which stopped operating after a directive from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on September 7, 2018, ordered them to suspend its unlicensed deposit-taking operations with the public.
The customers have been calling on the government to help retrieve their monies with demonstrations, press conferences and so on.

Is that all that President Akufo Addo is telling Menzgold customers? That we should learn lessons from what has happened to us? You and your government have allowed NAM1 to run away with all our investments and listen to what you are telling us. Thank you Mr President! God bless you and grant you more health and wealth to enjoy with family and friends while poor customers of Menzgold wreak in pain and misery.
Please what is the fate of depositors of Gold Coast Fund Management? Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom is just across the streets at Coconut Groove and since July,2018 has confiscated the funds of all customers resulting in the death of some customers. he boasts of having 65 companies. Can't the Ghana Government compel him to pay the capital to the customers before disaster strikes. Please someone should come to the aid of GCFM and GN Bank (savings and Loans) customers.
