Lawyer Maurice Ampaw says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was “right” with his calm way of addressing issues concerning Menzgold during his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
Maurice said he would have done same if he were to be the president in handling such a delicate issue.
“I was not surprised with what he said on Menzgold. If he had promised something to the aggrieved customers, failure to do so will also create a whole lot of problems and might affect him politically,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, ‘Ghana Montie’.
Aggrieved customers of gold dealership firm Menzgold say they are disappointed in President Akufo-Addo's nonchalance about their predicament.
They expressed their anger in the President over his remarks on the issue when he delivered his third State of the Nation Address to Parliament Thursday.
Some of the customers were at Parliament House with placards to picket over what they say is government’s inaction in helping them retrieve their monies.
But controversial lawyer, Maurice Ampaw who is also a customer of Menzgold told Host Kwesi Aboagye that “There is no way the president can pay all the customers. It can’t be possible. Cant they see this government is struggling to even pay other debts?”
