The Oti Region, which was carved out of the Volta Region, has hit the ground running even before the construction of Regional Coordinating Council offices by government.

Immediately after President Akufo-Addo signed the Executive Instrument, the region prepared the Krachi East Municipal Assembly at Dambai, the regional capital, as the temporary coordinating council.

They have also secured additional properties to help the smooth take-off of the coordinating council, which, Dan Botwe, Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development said will start operating from next week.

He said the collaboration between the chiefs, public servants, departments and agencies in the municipality is ‘commendable,’ especially when they are prepared to receive over 100 local government staff in the area to steer the affairs of the new region.

He also added that the Inter-Ministerial Team has also submitted a Developmental Needs and Action Plan document to the President, which will be handed over to the new team to run the coordinating council to review, make inputs and implement accordingly.

Mr. Botwe made the revelation when he toured Dambai in the company of the Volta Regional Minister and other Heads of Departments.

The minister was particularly pleased with the enthusiasm and preparedness of the chiefs and people of the area to welcome the new region.

Nana Ato Arthur, the Head of Local Governemnt Service, who was part of the entourage, assured that the recruitment and posting processes for the new regions were on course and said personnel will start arriving next week to commence work.

Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibal Letsa, the caretaker Minister of Oti Region, urged the staff to be committed in the development of the new region.
