The European Union delegation to Ghana has vowed to bring together political parties in the country for dialogue to ensure an end is put to political violence.
Speaking after a meeting with leaders of the National Democratic Congress, Head of the delegation, Ambassador Diana Acconcia said the presence of political violence puts Ghana’s development at risk.
“We understand that there is serious issue of political violence makes us very worried, we were happy when the president said we should tackle it very seriously. Today we have listened to the point of view of the opposition and they really feel that not enough have been done to tackle this violence,” she said.
They pledged the EU’s continuous support to ensure that political stability is maintained in the country by ensuring that there is enough dialogue in the country.
She added that the EU is worried about the current political violence and hopes that enough will be done to ensure there is peace and stability come elections 2020.
“We are indeed worried for the increasing political violence, from our point of view, we can only invite political parties to talk to each other, civil societies to put pressure on the political parties and also try to promote dialogue and a peaceful climate,” she said.
The delegation was at the NDC headquarters to discuss issues in the country with the party’s leadership.

EU ask them what they did about political violence when they were in power? they said violence begat violence, they said boot for boot, they said they came out if a revolution so no party can compete with them in unleashing violence and this is the party seeking sympathy from you! their party chairman was caught on tape asking their footsoldiers to kidnap and kill Ghanaians and their flagbearer acknowledged that this is the party running to you to lie ! they making nothing of the Ayawaso election, they sent their hoodlums to unleash violence on Ghanaian voters which the national security responded with the equal force that they showed, they were over powered by the National security which has hurt them so much so that they are crying wolf where there is no wolf! Don't pay no heed to them for they are desperate and frustrated and trying to court sympathy from anyone who will give them ear! Elections are won with good policies and visions not by forming the Hawks and the snakes and the monkeys to snatch ballot boxes through intimidations! the whole thing is they've met their meter and can't see through and beating about the bu*sh! The president is very passionate to disband groups they use to intimidate Ghanaians and they are not happy at all about it and they are looking for any possible way to maintain their hoodlums and use them during the 2020 elections and when they are challenged blame the government of intimidation! please advise them the ndc to be civil so our democracy will survive in civility. They have no case their evil intent is hunting them.
