The two Canadian ladies who were reportedly kidnapped last week in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region capital, have been rescued by police.
Eleven(11) Ghanaians and three(3) Nigerians have since been arrested by the Police in the operation.
According to Hello FM's Samson Kwame Nyamekye, police investigations are ongoing to arrest several others involved in the abduction.
Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitly, 20, were rescued Wednesday morning at Antoa Krobo junction, a suburb of Kumasi.
However, a statement released by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, disclosed that the rescue operation was carried out by National Security Operatives in the early hours of Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
“Details of the operation and ongoing efforts to ensure that similar incidents are successfully resolved will be made available in a subsequent press briefing scheduled for 15:00 hours today [Wednesday].
“Government continues to encourage the media and commentators to be circumspect in public commentary on security matters in order not to compromise other related operations,” the statement urged.
The statement further assured citizens and travellers that Ghana was safe.

How on earth did they get these canadians so quick, but in the case of the takoradi girls, there is no signs of their where abouts. Did the national security used magic? Or this is purely the work of the Canadian experts who came here. Why don't they tap the expertise of these Canadian experts to find our own girls too. Are our girls not human beings too? We went standing in scorching sun to vote for nana addo, but he is a disappointment when it comes to the security of his own citizens. It's so sad. Where in the world does this happen. Of course, Canadian government will find Ghanaians in an event they were kidnapped in Canada, but the seriousness with which they even took to come down to Ghana to search for their own shows how ediots our leaders are in this country. For nearly a year you cannot bring back your own citizens but within a week Canadians kidnapped are rescued, is this not amazing? And we have some people commending the national security for this bias work done. We in the western regions are going to start weekly demos again until our girls are also brought back. Shame on our leaders.
#### NIGERIANS MUST GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOW
Congrats Ghana police. We have to look closely at This ECOWAS free movement protocol. Particularly the number of Nigerians who have moved to Ghana. They are everywhere and are the main source of these very complex criminal activities. Kidnapping and extortion is a big business there and they are importing it here. If we don't tighten our borders. they will destroy this country
ghana,our glory and...nigerians?.
Well done to police. Regarding @Ken; @Hawabu and others comments, it is rather unfortunate to link T'di girls to the Canadian girls. Success achieved and lives safe should be celebrated by all. Don't be negative and racist. We pray that T'di girls are also rescued
Congrats National Security and the government. They thought they were doing this to embarrass the government and Ghana. Those behind these actions can continue to tickle themselves and think Ghanaians will vote for the NDC because of these barbarous, cowardly and criminal acts. The T'di girls will also be found and they will run and leave their shoes behind.
What a coincidence, hours after the arrest of Ofosu Ampofo, these girls are released. No weapon fashion against Ghana shall stand.
These are two different scenarios, with the Tadi girls their parents started a negotiating process long before they even informed the police about it. If they had informed the police the very time they were kidnapped, it would have been easier for them to track the kidnappers.
This Nigeria guys is spoiling
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia, and you think you have done well, I knew it was not going to take time before they are rescued. The police do not see us as important human beings. The truth is that Europeans, Americans, Britain, in fact those place respect every citizen whether rich or poor. If the Takoradi girls belonged to the 'high and mighty' society in Ghana they would have been rescued. May God have mercy on you.
