The Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the government will soon inject about $2 billion into the Ghanaian economy, as part of measures to address the Cedi depreciation.
According to him, 750 million dollars expected from the Afremix Bank will hit the accounts of the Bank of Ghana this week, whilst the cocoa syndicated loan will add $1.3 billion.
Mr. Oppong Nkrumah made this known during an interview on Accra-based radio station, Citi FM.
He also gave the assurance that the free fall of the cedi to the dollar will soon be a thing of the past as the local currency will be stabilised.
“The Bank of Ghana introduced a number of measures in the short term to deal with it and on the back of that… the $750 million that we were expecting, all the paperwork has been concluded, and it should be hitting our accounts today or tomorrow.”
“If I were you, and I was holding onto dollars, I would be selling them by now because there is a lot more dollar coming in from the $750 million and also from the Cocoa Syndicated Loan of about $1.3 billion,” the minister said.
He added that the government’s “expectation is that it will lead to quick stabilisation.”
The cedi has dropped by at least 35 percent in 2022.

So this bleached slay queen officer of the Passport office in Tamale held us (applicants) and her colleague staffs to ransom this morning, 24th August, 2022. Exposed us to the mercy of the cold weather this morning, only for her to show up in her white Chevrolet car with registration no. GS 2960 16 at exactly 9:31am this morning to open the main entrance gate and then subsequently opened the entrance to the office building. As if she wasn't late, she didn't even show any remorse by greeting applicants, who had gotten there as early as 7:00am and were seated and waiting for them to start work. Not even an apology as though, some of us were beggars and had gone there to BEG. At 9:48am, was when their boss also arrived in his official Hilux pick up also appeared very rude to us, as if they had come to the office to do people some favors. They begun attending to us after 10:15am. Forgetting that, most of us present were equally workers just as they are. They should be informed that, the work does not belong to their fathers and if they are not ready to work, please, they should tender in their resignations and go home peacefully! What ***barred word***! Conscious and competent people are ready and willing to serve their country, yet they give out these jobs to slay queens and empty headed ***barred word***. 1. They should learn to wear smiles on their faces when they are in the office space 2. They should learn to greet their customers when they (staffs) arrive at work late. 3. The manager appears not to be a good one. He lacks managerial skills 4. None of the officers wore a name tag, making it difficult to identify them Management should take a critical look at the operations of their Tamale office and train them to improve on their customer relationship. Thank you
