Dr. Gideon Boako has expressed disgust over the Niger coup d'état that occurred in July this year.
A military junta seized power in Niger and ousted the President, however ECOWAS has asked the coup orchestrators to restore the President.
ECOWAS says it will be compelled to send a "standby" force to intervene in the situation if the Nigerien military fails to reinstall the President.
The Spokesperson for the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Gideon Boako wondered why almost every coup d'état happens in Africa.
Commenting on the Niger coup during Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, he regrettably noted that "it's so bad . . . It delays our progress" and emphasized "it doesn't help anybody".
He cautioned military leaders who overthrow a government to desist from it and asked them to follow the "democratic process to elect our leaders and when we don't like them, we should use the same democratic process to vote against them to make way for a new person".
He also prayed Ghana never descends into a coup state, stressing "you don't have to dream it at all in Ghana and within the neighbouring countries, we don't need it".

Yes it delays the progress of corrupt politician like you and your kind, whilst the masses surfer. I dont blame you but one day things might change.
Boako, you should rather ask yourself. How come the very people who waste precious time to queue to elect their leaders are same people who rush to the streets in support of the military when they overthrow the very government they (the people) elected. From the bottom of your heart are you happy with current happenings in your country, you have conscience, aren't you happy? If Ghana were a private enterprise and you were to be the sole proprietor of this enterprise, will you allow what is happening to Ghana today to happen to your enterprise? Colonel Acheampong (1972-1978) i.e. 6 years in power. He built the TOÑO irrigation dam in Navrongo, upper east. The me one civilian administration since the inception of the fourth republic that has built any dam similar to the TOÑO irrigation dam to ensure all year round farming? The me one civilian government which has an agricultural policy similar to the 'operation feed yourself' policy by Acheampong . Acheampong built the Teshie Nungua estates. Mention one civilian government from 1992 to date that has built any estates similar to the one at teshie nungua? To say that "coups doesn't help anybody" cannot be true. See what president Hechilema of Zambia is doing by sacrificing his comfort just to ensure progress for his country. He has refused to buy any new vehicle/s for the presidency since he came to office. He is using the vehicles his predecessor was using. He has directors all majors to go for pickups as their official vehicles. He says any appointees of his who wants a V8 as official vehicle should buy his or her own. Which soldier in Zambia will think of overthrowing such a president who is forgoing his comfort for the sake of his people? In any case what has changed such that government appointees are all over the place speaking against coups. Has any soldier issued any threat? If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.
Why won't you condemn it? Sel-serving pontification! I suppose you fear your own shadow.
These kinds of coup only delays and probably cut short the progress of puppets who supervises the resources of Africa on behalf of the evil west. Tell me the progress of Niger for over 50 years of being controlled by France. Which western country will allow their resources and their system to be controlled by a foreign country? A so called democracy which allow our leaders to be rich because they agreed to western contracts which allow 90% of our resources to their countries and we getting 10% in exchange of aid is evil and must be brought down as soon as possible for Africa to develop. Ghana is not an exception in this case.
If you these politicians in suits and Ties stop stealing and being corrupt., the coups will stop. In the past I didn't understand why soldiers takes up guns and overthrow government but with the level of corruption in most these African countries , the only language these leaders understand is when the soldiers overthrow them. In fact in every government we need the presence of the military as part of the regime to instil some sort of discipline in the heads of these suit wearing ***barred word***. These so called politrickcians come and rather loot the resources of the state after all the Ivy league universities they have gone to . Enough of these white collar ***barred word***.
