The General Secretary of the Ghana Mine Workers Union, Prince William Ankrah says the year 2013 has been a mixed one for the mining industry.
He said though there were some bad fortunes, government's commitment to crackdown on illegal mining is commendable.
Speaking to Radio Ghana on the performance of the Mining sector, Mr Ankrah said government deserves commendation for creating a congenial environment for Direct Foreign Investment.
On contract negotiation and management, Mr Ankrah said government has been bold enough to ensure that contracts benefit the nation.
Mr Ankrah said Ghanaians need to do better in 2014.
For him, it is important to secure the best for the nation in terms of contract negotiations.
