Mr. Anthony Agyemang, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Kwanwoma, has urged parents to give serious attention to the education of their children to make them competitive in the current knowledge and technology-driven world.
They should join hands with the government to create the right environment for smooth academic work.
He was addressing a parade of school children at Foase to mark the 53rd anniversary celebration of the country's political independence.
"Investing in the youth for a better Ghana" was the theme for this year's celebration.
Mr. Agyemang counselled the young people to be disciplined, honest, respectful and patriotic adding, they should shun violence and other socially reprehensible behaviours.
He told the parade that the district would soon take delivery of its share of exercise books and school uniforms provided by the government for free distribution to schools and needy pupils.
Prizes were presented to schools that excelled in the march past.
