A Circuit court in Accra on Wednesday directed the police to finish their investigations on suspected arsonists within seven days.
The directive followed a request by the Prosecution for the court to give them one more week to enable them fully prepare their case against the suspects.
Two suspected arsonists; Yakubu Tahiru, 28, and Fatau Ibrahim, 22, have been dragged before the court for their alleged involvement in the burning of the Kantamanto and Agbogbloshie markets in Accra.
The court has for the third time running, refused to grant them bail.
But Presiding judge of the court, Francis Obiri warned, he will not tolerate any further excuses from the prosecutors.
Meanwhile lawyer for the accused, Carlos Adongo argued that the continuous detention of his clients amounted to violation of their rights.
He said the Prosecution has failed to establish clear evidence to back the claim that the suspects were behind the fires in the Kantamanto and Makola markets in Accra and prayed the court to grant them bail.
The judge, Justice Francis Obiri, however refused the bail application.
The case has been adjourned to 17th July.
