The Keta District Police Command has prevented the District NADMO coordinator, Alex Atakpa from smuggling a tanker full of premix fuel to Togo.
The premix fuel was said to have been diverted from Asokpo its initial destination point to Kpebi for onward smuggling to Togo but for the intervention of the police.
According to Citi Newsďż˝ Volta Regional correspondent, Macintosh Gratham, the assembly man of the area, Wisdom Agbeko, explained to him that a tanker with registration number GN 5206 13 of a company departed Tema on Tuesday but never got to its destination, but for their diligence the premix fuel would have been smuggled into Togo.
Meanwhile, Mr. Atakpa has denied the allegation adding that he was forced to divert the consignment to Kpebi.
However, the Keta District Police Commander, ASP Boakye confirmed the story and has given the assurance that his men have taken custody of the consignment.
Investigations are underway to resolve the issue.
