Mr Richmond Mensah, Effutu Municipal Director of the Commission for Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has appealed to parents to educate their children instead of engaging them in child labour.
Mr Mensah made the appeal at durbar to mark the International Day against Child Labour in Winneba.
The durbar was on the theme Combating Child Labour through effective Social Protection.
It was organized by Effutu Municipal Assembly in partnership with International Needs Ghana, a Non-governmental Organization (NGO).
Mr Mensah expressed regret that some children of school going-age are fishing and engaged in other forms of child labour to the disadvantage of their education.
Mr Mensah urged parents in the municipality to invest their limited resources to educate their children rather than spending them on litigations and other unnecessary things.
Ms Joyce Odame, Child Right Commissioner of the NGO, said the NGO was undertaking a project to promote an enhanced, safe and protective environment for children.
