An 11-year-old Girl, Grace Konyo, is reported to have died moments after drinking a substance believed to be akpeteshie, a local gin.
Her 72-year-old father, Atitso Konyo, has since been caged for hindrance of inquest by the Tafo Police in the Police in the East Akyim District of the Eastern Region.
The deceased lived with her father and elder sister, Rita Konyo, 15, at Anomado near Tafo.
Their father was said to have left a bottle of Akpeteshie in the room on June 15 before going out of the house.
The two girls drank the substance in the absence of their father.
Grace died later and her father deposited the body at the Tafo Government Hospital without informing the police.
He was, therefore, arrested after an informant notified the police about the incident.
Deputy Regional Commander ACP James Azuma Abass Abaah, who confirmed the story, said the man is being held for hindrance of inquest, stressing that he should have reported circumstances leading to the childs death to police.
