The Ministry of Education says it has not taken any decision that requires tertiary students residing in the halls of residences to pay utility bills in the next academic year.
According to the Ministry, Government’s policy regarding subsidy on water and electricity for tertiary students has not changed.
The Minister of Education, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has therefore asked students to ignore any such rumour regarding the issue.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Minister of Education (Pre-tertiary), Alex Kyeremeh.
The statement further indicated that cabinet had issued issued a new directive exempting all educational and health institutions from the disconnection exercise currently on-going in some tertiary institutions.
