The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has asked the Electricity Company of Ghana to shed a total of 400 megawatts of power.
“Gridco has requested for 400MW load relief from ECG between 18:00hrs and 06:00hrs due to insufficient power generation.”
The shedding covers six regions in the country. They are: Accra (140MW), Ashanti (80MW), Tema (60MW), Western (40MW), Central (30MW), Eastern (30MW) and Volta (20MW).
The directive to the ECG is due to the insufficient power being generated in the country following some technical challenges with the Volta River Authority’s (VRA) power plants in the Western Region and other parts of the country.
