A suspected thief, only known as Kofi, 19, at Kansaworado in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis missed death by a whisker after a timely intervention of a Police Patrol Team saved him from being killed by an angry mob on Friday.
The suspect who hails from Kwesimintsim reportedly entered a room at Sikaduase, a hamlet in Kansaworado to steal around 12 noon.
He was unlucky when a neighbour who spotted him raised an alarm attracting many residents to the scene.
The incensed residents who many of whom have suffered several robbery attacks in recent times subjected the suspect to severe beating with clubs, stones and other objects while others fetched water from a gutter for him to drink.
The residents who were bent on teaching the suspect a lesson tried setting him ablaze but was saved by a police patrol team who rushed to the scene after they had been alerted.
He is currently receiving treatment at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi.
