President Nana Akufo-Addo is leading Ghana into “pension” as the country turns 60 years in March this year. He will subsequently usher in a “new Ghana”, Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II has said.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving Ceremony in Kyebi, a day after President Akufo-Addo’s investiture, the Kyebi paramount chief said: “Two months from now, this our dear country will be 60 years from independence, a Ghana where public sector workers would be gone on pension and as Ghana turns 60, Nana Addo will be the one leading this Ghana into pension to usher in a new Ghana that will give you the platform to eloquently articulate your programme and plans with contemporary freshness and relevance.”

Okyehene Amoatia Afori Panin has also warned Ghanaians to brace up for “difficult” times.

“After the pomp and pageantry and the glamnour and all the songs, there’s work to be done. These are hard times and there are difficult days ahead.

“The task of managing any African country is not for the faint-hearted neither is it for those who are unwilling to make hard choices or those who will compromise on issue or those whole will defend the status quo. It is for those who have the audacity of courage to change and the change we are talking about is not the changing of just personalities, or Party A to Party B.”
