Six pregnant girls failed to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Asante-Akim Central Municipality.
A total of 1,406 candidates, made up of 726 boys and 680 girls, from both public and private schools, registered to sit for the examination at five centres in the area.
Mr. Daniel Akwasi Adarkwa, the Municipal Coordinator of Examinations, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that apart from the six pregnant girls, three other boys for unexplained reasons did show up.
He said all had so far been smooth and that there had not been any reported hitches.
The candidates, supervisors and invigilators, he added, had comported themselves and that he was optimistic of a successful examination.
