Dr Kofi Kesse Marfo – former Deputy Inspector General of Police until 2007 when he was retired from the Ghana Police Service – is reported to have passed on in a London hospital.

In 2007, he and three other superior officers were retired from the Ghana Police Service after he unsuccessfully petitioned the previous year the Police Council over what he claimed was a mistake in his date of birth entry in the police records – a critical detail which determines the retirement date.

The petition had it that his original date of birth was July 21, 1950 and not July 23, 1947 as recorded.

He was highly professional during his career but attracted a worrying headline when his son was alleged to have been implicated in a UK bombing incident.

Until his transfer from the Greater Accra Regional Command – which he headed as Regional Commander – to be in-charge of Operations at the Police Headquarters, Dr KK Marfo was said to have reduced the crime rate in his area of jurisdiction.

He attended the Achiase L.A. Middle School in the Eastern Region, Nkwanta Training College, University of Ghana, attracting a BA (Hons), MA/M Phil and Doctor of Philosophy.

He was retired alongside DCOP Douglas Akrofi Asiedu aka Charge, Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department; ACP Victor Tandoh; Madam Fati, the Kaneshie Divisional Commander and Superintendent Paul Avuyi.
