Baba Issah, 49, has been remanded in police custody by the Accra Circuit Court “one” for possessing alcoholic drink mixed with substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
The accused pleaded not guilty and would appear again on March 26.
Issah, who is a resident at Chorkor, a suburb of Accra, was grabbed at Mamprobi, also a suburb of the city, on March 7, during an operation carried out by the police.
The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu, told the court, presided by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, that the complainants were policemen from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, Accra.
He said a search conducted in KIA Pride car with registration N0. GM3621-12 belonging to the accused revealed the laced alcoholic drink concealed in two polythene containers.
Chief Insp. Adu said Issah was sent to the police station for questioning, and the alcoholic drink sent to the Forensic Laboratory for examination.
