General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has expressed dissatisfaction with the work of some of the police officers and the electoral officials administering the limited registration exercise.
According to the NDC Chief Scribe, the limited registration exercise is generally going on well but hinted there are some challenges which need to be addressed.
He added that one of the challenges with the limited registration exercise has to do with training the police in handling electoral processes [registration and elections]; thus the police is not properly trained on electoral matters and that always pose a problem.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, General Mosquito hinted the way some of the police officers are going about their duties in the on-going electoral process itself generate conflict and that is a deficit which must be addressed.
“Again, some of the registration officers also are not conversant with the guidelines they are supposed to use about their duties; thus, some of them are using birth certificates to determine nationality,” he revealed.
He stressed that some of the police officers in the Ashanti Region have brutalised and intimidated some the NDC officials and agents monitoring the limited registration exercise; reiterating that some police officers watched on while some NPP members attacked their members at the registration centres.
