Mister Michael Omari-Wadie, Aspiring National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Tuesday called on the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) to organize a day's forum for all aspirants to ensure a fair and free campaign.
"In order for us to showcase to the world the unity that the party activists and sympathisers are calling for, I suggest the creation of a platform for all aspirants to dialogue on their differences and reduce the tensions emanating within the party," he added.
In a statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr. Omari-Wadie said: "most party functionaries believe that without dialogue, the task of organizing a National Delegates Conference to elect National Executive Officers will be a mountain very high to climb".
He acknowledged that the existing problems in the party, "is already tearing the party into factions and we should not let these climb to the top since the repercussion would be much greater to bear".
"I also believe that such a forum would create an avenue for those with grievances within the party, or those seeking redress in the courts to rescind their decisions for the party to move forward," he said.
Mr. Omari-Wadie said the forum would also foster unity towards the party's agenda to 'Reflect, Rebuild and Recapture'.
"We call on the national chairman as a matter of urgency to call a forum for all the aspiring candidates for the national executive office".
"We all know that elections encounter all forms of challenges, especially among contesting candidates. Most of these problems have landed the party in the law courts and affecting the party's elections," he said.
