Parliament has approved the nominations of seven (7) persons by President Mills for Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial Appointments. It however deferred the approval of Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minister designate for Trade and Industry till a separate report on the nominee is presented to the House later.
The nominees are Hon. E. T. Mensah ďż˝ Employment and Social Welfare, Mr. Martin Amidu, Interior, Hon. John Tia Akologu, Information, Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin ďż˝ Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. John Gyetua, Minister of State, Mr. Moses Mabengba, Northern Region and Hon. Abdualai Fuseini Inusah, Deputy Minister Designate for Energy.
Supporting the motion for the approval of the seven nominees after the appointments committees report had been submitted to the House, Hon. Joe Ghartey, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice was very disappointed that the Western Region was not represented in President Millsďż˝ cabinet in spite of the regions huge contribution to the economy.
However the Minister of Communications, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu said President Millsďż˝ government reflects regional and gender balance.
