The Campaign Coordinator of the Nana Konadu Campaign team, Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu, says he is ready to join Professor John Atta Mills on the campaign trail should he extend an invitation to him.

Hon. Nyaunu was the only NDC MP who was vocal in his support for the former first lady. He told Citi News with the Sunyani congress over, the next hurdle for the party is forming a formidable team that will defeat the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012.

Asked if he would accept an invitation to join the President’s campaign team, the Lower Manya Krobo MP exclaimed “Oh yes, why not, delegates have spoken and that would be the end.

"After all we are in one political party. Our ultimate goal is to win and retain power.

"My only worry is whether we have to consider a new strategy in order to retain power because definitely what took place in Sunyani would not be replicated or it would not work for the general election.

"Over two thousand people took that decision and it would be subjected to about 20 million voters in this country, whether those strategies we used-like twisting of arms and intimidation, will work, I can assure you that it would not work when it comes to the main elections.

"We all have to play a good role and make sure that the NDC retains power and push Nana Addo into political retirement...”

"Nana Konadu is doing well, believe me she has the capacity to absorb any shock ……” he added.

On the eve of the Congress at Citi FM’s make-shift studio at Sunyani, Mr Nyaunu and Presidential aide, Stan Dogbe nearly exchanged blows in a heated discussion.

However, Hon Nyaunu says they never took the hostility outside the studio.

“We did not even break the communication at all, after that Point Blank discussion that we all had(on Friday July 8), we shook hands and we embraced each other, so there is no communication break at all, we did it there and left it with Citi FM”.

In a related development, Hon Michael Teye Nyaunu has called for the disbanding of the two teams that prosecuted the campaign of the contestants in the NDC flagbearer race - Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) and Nana Konadu’s campaign team supported by the group Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR) in order to have one national campaign team.
