The National Organiser of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan, has lamented on how some actions of the Mayor of Accra, Dr. Vanderpuije is dwindling the fortunes of the party in the capital.
Speaking in an uncharacteristic angry tone, Mr. Boateng Gyan said, it seems we are putting water in a tank while someone is at the same time, draining the water from the same tank. As a social democratic party, he said, the NDC believes that actions of the party or government must be properly centered. We put the people first in all that we doWe cant take their views and opinions for granted, he said.
The NDC national organizer, who is also a presidential staffer, warned that, if the Accra Mayor cannot do the job that he has been assigned, then he should give way for someone to come and do it. Accra Metropolis Assembly has been demolishing illegal structures within the Accra Metropolis in recent times against the wishes of the party.
The Mayor is said to be at loggerheads with the Greater Accra Regina minister, Nii Armah Ashittey and some NDC Regional executives over demolition exercises. The party believes that the demolishing exercise will affect the fortunes of the party in this years elections.
